Secret to Radiant Life

“Ayurveda gives you a long life and if you live long enough, you can accomplish your dreams you have! One step at a time, believing in what you are doing. “ Said Laura Plumb in our Instagram Live the other night. You can find the 1 hour talk below and a summary below. her Website for cooking https://food-alovestory.com is full of inspiration and her Instagram Account is also full of useful information.

And her secret to radiant life is applying Ayurveda into everyday life, and basically living in harmony!

Unfortunately many of us moved away from living in harmony.

“So more and more these ancient sciences become more relevant to the world now. Because all that they try to do, in yoga and Ayurveda is seeking to restore harmony.

Yoga is seeking to restore with our whole body-mind and spirit and Ayurveda aims the same with nature and in the world in which we live.

And remember that healing and regeneration are within for all life and all human beings.

When you have that, you have ease, joy and abundance.

So what more can we want?”

I am so motivated for my Ayurvedic Cleanse now and in my next post I am sharing my meals and recipes with you!

Here is the summary of the rest of the talk

Laura Plumb shared:

“Yoga teaches us to Meet the challenges and uncertainties of life with equanimity, with the certainty of something eternal within. Many people were looking outside, externally for answers or pathways. Isn’t yoga teaching us, instead of looking outside, to blame or to solve, to look inside for solution, resolution or peace.

“The peace that surpasses all understanding”St.Tereza

Sometimes we have soo much need to know, but what if there is an answer beyond the mind, what if there is a deep deep peace that is beyond all knowing. Yoga invites us back to that. And if we learn that through these past 6-7 months, then we learned what I think it came to teach us. That there is a peace in you that surpasses all understanding. That there is something in you that will survive everything. and that is always wishing you as everything in nature has regenerative power that is majestic, beautiful and bounty. And this is the world we live in.

Ayurveda is one of the oldest science (for about 7-8000 years) and systems of healing in the world, called as the mother of all healing, encompassing different modalities of healing. Food, tea, spices, cooking are some of them. It has 8 primary branches (like pregnancy, anti-aging, chronic illness, surgery, etc) and 2 main goals:

  1. Is to heal, especially people with chronic illness like diabetes, obesity, cancer.
  2. Preventative medicine, to make your health go from ordinary to radiant. Wether it is food, teas, exercises, breathing practices, yoga, massage, and many other practices are all part of it.

Ayurveda says that health is NOT the absence of disease,

Health is when the dosas are in balance, the tissues are strong, the mind is steady and focused, the heart is calm, we feel a radiant aliveness.

We are seeking a very radiant experience of our own life force.

It is the sister science to yoga, like yoga off the mat and more into day to day life. It is the yoga that brings focus, awareness in everything you do, eat and experience, everyday all day long.

Ayurveda is a complex system based on very basic principles. There are 5 elements in nature, earth, fire, water, air, and space.

Each have qualities like being cool, warm, rough, heat, sharp, burns….

Even knowing these qualities, feeling it in your body, you can react accordingly and you know what are you going to do to balance,

Ayurveda is the science of balance.

We are seeking and by using the opposite to restore balance. In moderation!

If there is a day with too much heat, you drink more water or let the air cool you. And find the foods that cool you., that acts like air and water. in the body.

So you use the qualities of these five elements in nature to restore balance.

“Ayurveda gives you long life and if you live long enough, you can accomplish your dreams you have! One step at a time, believing in what you are doing. “ Said tes us back to that.

Ayurveda meets everybody where they are and to learn what is there natural physical property is, what is your constitution is, how much space, fire, air, water, space you have, making each of us unique.

And what is the pathway to that imbalance, like eating too much raw food making imbalance.

So there is 7billion different protocols according to their unique situation.

“We do not treat disease, we treat human beings.”

Within all the creation there is the power of create and recreate.

Traditional cultures were using foods locally, organically and naturally grown in their land, which is the food balanced according to season. If you are eating according to ancient cultural ways, that is a great start as it is balanced.

In modern times, many people are not eating according to their genes-cultures. A lot of metabolic syndrome like diabetes comes from this reason. People eat the food made in factory and not in nature and not what their grandparents ate.

Ayurveda can be adapted to all traditional cuisines as well as modern ones.

Traditional cultures were using foods locally, organically, and naturally grown in their land, which is the food balanced according to season. If you are eating according to ancient cultural ways, that is a great start as it is balanced.

The purpose of Ayurvedic detox is to restore and maintain the fire – Agni- in the body.

This why Ayurveda says, it is not what you eat, it is what you digest.

You are what you digest!

Cleanse is about restoring your digestive function.

So the food and preparation in a cleanse is ligher and easier to digest, helping the metabolic fires, and then there is enough oils and oilation in the food and drinks. Because toxins, Ama, are sticky tissues that blocks the channels and ultimately can cause disease.

With the cleanse we want to burn up that ama-toxins, we want the oils to wash away the toxins (melt , grab and take them away). Water is not enough because the toxins can not be washed away with water only.

So we are detoxing by strengthening the digestive fire and strengthening the circulatory systems.

So a juice cleanse may have its own purposes but since there is no fire and fat in the juice, it may not help to take toxins away. It could be good for pittha dosha for 1 day.

Signs of good agni-digestion

1.20minutes after eating, “no sign”! No noise or bloating-gurgling, etc in the digestive system. You don’t feel anything, everything is calm!

2. You have strong immune system, you don’t get sick frequently

3. You have enough energy in life, you do not feel tired regularly.

4. You have clarity in the mind, you don’t have foggy brain.

Signs of weak agni-fire-digestion are:

  1. Foggy brain
  2. Fatigue, even if you rest enough
  3. Energy spikes during the day
  4. Getting Sick more often
  5. skin rashes, acne, pimples
  6. Eyes are colored, cloudiness
  7. Tongue is coated thickly
  8. So the food and preparation in a cleanse is lighter and easier to digest, helping the metabolic fires, and then there is enough oils and oilation in the food and drinks. Because toxins, Ama, are sticky tissues that blocks the channels and ultimately can cause disease..
  9. Headaches
  10. Gas, bloating, sharp pains

A cleanse is all about restoring that!
